PRC First Time Home-Buyers Workshops

The Preservation Resource Center offers monthly First-Time Homebuyer Training courses that prepare participants to tackle the home purchase process and meet the demands of owning and caring for a home.
Participants will also gain access to a variety of home purchase incentives available exclusively to program graduates and offered by the Finance Authority of New Orleans, the City of New Orleans, and various lending institutions. HANO Voucher Program - Become a Homeowner
HANO offers a program in which Section 8 vouchers can be used to purchase a home.
Participants must become financially fit, be a first-time homeowner, be employed for at least a year, satisfactorily complete HANO's pre-assistance homeownership and housing counseling program, attend post-purchase counseling and monthly homebuyer club meetings, and earn an annual salary of at least $10,300. NACA is a non-profit, community advocacy and homeownership organization that conducts homeowner counseling and helps even those with poor credit to purchase a home or refinance a predatory loan.
NACA offers a mortgage program with no down payment, no closing costs, no fees, no requirement for perfect credit, at a below-market interest rate. NACA also offers free, comprehensive housing services such as house hunting assistance and property evaluations. Participants must become a member of NACA to receive program benefits. Teachers HomeWorks Program: Home-Buying Grants for Teachers

The Teachers HomeWorks program was established to encourage teachers to establish roots in New Orleans.
Neighborhood Housing Services will administer the program.
Requirements: A teacher's total family income cannot exceed 115% of the median area income of $39,900 for a family of one and $57,000 for a family of four. Teachers also must take part in the Neighborhood Housing Services' Home ownership Development Program. To apply, teachers must obtain a personal profile form through the human resources department of individual charter schools, the recovery district or the Orleans Parish School Board. Teachers must complete the form and bring it to a Neighborhood Housing Services orientation session along with proof that they are certified. IDAs (Individual Development Accounts) are savings accounts that give low income individuals and families the opportunity save and build assets.
